Author: GAUDIN Michael Affiliation: DER Electricite De France Title: INVERSE IDENTIFICATION AND UPDATING IN VIBRATIONS OF PIPING SYSTEMS Text: This paper concerns the area of vibrations in piping systems of nuclear power plants. One need to represent as better as possible the dynamic behaviour of those systems with respect to the measurements performed on a real structure. In a software developed by Electricite de France, this behaviour is idealised in mechanics with exact dynamic stiffness matrices, and in acoustics with plane waves. According to this idealisation, we don’t need to discretise piping systems like in finite element methods (a pipe is only one element, a node is a singularity like an elbow, a pump, a diaphragm, ...). Using exact transfer matrices, we can also place a sensor everywhere on a straight pipe. But their are two main problems when idealising a real structure :

A two-step method for damage identification and quantification in large trusses via wavelet transform and optimization algorithm
In the present study, a two-step approach for damage prognosis in long trusses is suggested in which the first step deals with locating probable damages by wavelet transform (WT) and static deflection derived from modal data with the intention of declining the subsequent inverse problem variables. Then, in the second step, optimization based model updating method using Artificial Bee Colony (AB...
متن کاملGENERALIZED FLEXIBILITY-BASED MODEL UPDATING APPROACH VIA DEMOCRATIC PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHM FOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE PROGNOSIS
This paper presents a new model updating approach for structural damage localization and quantification. Based on the Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC), a new damage-sensitive cost function is introduced by employing the main diagonal and anti-diagonal members of the calculated Generalized Flexibility Matrix (GFM) for the monitored structure and its analytical model. Then, ...
متن کاملData-Interpretation Methodologies for Non-Linear Earthquake Response Predictions of Damaged Structures
Seismic exposure of buildings presents difficult engineering challenges. The principles of seismic design involve structures that sustain damage and still protect inhabitants. Precise and accurate knowledge of the residual capacity of damaged structures is essential for informed decision-making regarding clearance for occupancy after major seismic events. Unless structures are permanently monit...

Presenting structural damage detection problem as an inverse model-updating approach is one of the well-known methods which can reach to informative features of damages. This paper proposes a model-based method for fault prognosis in engineering structures.
